The Greening of Shows
The ecological impact, or footprint, of trade shows is quite dramatic.  The amount of trash, waste. and indoor pollutants that each event generates is profound, and the residual impact - brochures printed on unrecycled paper, solvents that clean carpets and pipe and drape, perfectly good wood, paper, and other materials that are not re-used or recycled, but simply sent to land fills and garbage dumps - is profound. This session will be moderated by Mary Beth Rebedeau, SISO Executive Director, and will feature "green" show producers and others who will share their advice and offer steps we can take to minimize the footprint our events leave on the earth.

Outsourcing

Many companies outsource to help in busy times, to handle on-site event duties, and to serve as an extended staff throughout the year.  Also, many SISO members offer their services to others - as event management companies for companies and associations, as on-site floor managers, as conference management and  as booth and sponsorship sales agents.  This business may fill gaps during down times or be used as a business model.  This panel, moderated by Sam Lippman of ism2, will explore all sides of outsourcing - why companies offer their services to other event producers or associations, what services these companies typically offer, how they structure fees, what they outsource, how to find outsource providers. For those looking to develop new revenue streams, it will also address how to get outsource business. Panelists will include: Tamara Christian of National Trade Productions and Chris Brown of the National Association of Broadcasters.
