Charles McCurdy Charles G. McCurdy is Chairman and CEO of Apprise Media LLC, which he founded in January 2004. McCurdy has nearly 30 years of investment experience in special interest media. As a co-founder, President, and Director of Primedia, Inc., he oversaw that company’s growth from conception to a $3 billion value enterprise with $1.5 billion of revenue and $250 million in EBITDA profit. He led the company’s entrance into a broad range of niche media businesses—enthusiast and business-to-business magazines, consumer guides, specialty video, supplemental educational publishing, and their related online activities—and developed its niche media strategies. He successfully raised more than $8 billion in financings. He also managed the company’s turnaround, restoring its operational and financial soundness. Prior to launching Primedia, McCurdy was the top finance and development executive at Macmillan, Inc., the educational and professional book publisher and business-to-business information services provider. He started his publishing career as an editor. McCurdy received an MBA from Columbia and his BA from Yale. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City.
