Skip Farber

Skip Farber has nearly thirty years of global operating and business development experience gained through a unique blend of entrepreneurial and large corporate experience. His focus has been on creating marketing services and market access solutions for business-to-business customers through tradeshows, publications and database products worldwide. He led a management buyout of The World Shoe Association taking a not-for-profit association private in 2006.
Prior to arriving at WSA in March, 2004, Skip had demonstrated vast knowledge and experience with consumer product and retail channel distribution structured markets. His previously held positions include EVP of Advanstar Communications, Inc., VP Business Development for Reed Publishing USA, (RPUSA), Reed Exhibitions Worldwide and Cahners Publishing (now Reed Business Information.) While at Advanstar, Skip served as an executive officer, responsible for various operating, business development and strategy responsibilities across the company’s large portfolio and individual business units.
At Reed, Skip had executive worldwide operating responsibility for Cahner’s/Reed Direct Marketing Services and RPUSA and business development responsibility for Reed’s trade show and publishing businesses. Included in these portfolios were tradeshow, publishing and database businesses focused on retail and consumer products. These large trade show businesses provided the relevant background for Skip to lead and grow WSA. Among these properties were MAGIC, the leading apparel tradeshow and marketplace, International Beauty Expo, serving beauty and hair care products industry and The International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair, the leading, capital equipment, machinery and supply show serving the production furniture and cabinet manufacturing industry.
Skip has also been president of a small trade show and publishing company, owner/president of a major trade show industry supplier and consultant to numerous tradeshow and publishing related businesses on operating and business development projects and issues.
Skip continues to be an active member of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) and the International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM), organizations where he is a frequent presenter. |
