Darrell Denny is an executive vice president of Penton Media and is president of the Company’s IT Media Group, based in Loveland, CO; its Lifestyle Media Group (New Hope Natural Media), based in Boulder, CO; and Food/Retail Media Group, which has offices in Des Plaines, IL, Cleveland, OH, and Bensalem, PA. The Penton IT Media Group serves enterprise IT professionals whose work involves Microsoft and IBM operating platforms. Lifestyle Media (New Hope) serves the global natural products and organic foods markets. Food/Retail Media serves the commercial and non-commercial segments of the foodservice industry, the commercial baking market, the convenience store retailing market, and the hospitality industry. Darrell’s operating groups include some of the business-to-business media industry’s leading brands. These include: the Natural Products Expos; The Natural Foods Merchandiser magazine; Food Management and Restaurant Hospitality magazines; Windows IT Pro magazine network; iSeries NEWS magazine network; Baking Management magazine; and Lodging Hospitality magazine. Denny joined Penton in October 2000 after 10 1/2 years with the former Miller Freeman Inc. He was an executive vice president and group president at Miller Freeman, with responsibility for a $150 million division that included magazines, trade shows and Web sites in the sports, merchandise, gift, jewelry, and sewn products/decorated apparel markets. Denny also chaired Miller Freeman's Operating Committee and was a director on its Board. Denny started his career as a newspaper reporter and news desk editor before moving into trade magazine publishing. After eight years with Stevens Publishing, he joined Gralla Publishing in 1990, a company that was merged with Miller Freeman in 1992. Denny held a number of positions with Miller Freeman, including group publisher/director and vice president before being appointed executive vice president, division president in 1997. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1980 with a B.A. in Journalism. Denny, his wife and four children live in Laguna Hills, California. |
