Mike Cooke |
Mike Cooke became involved in the publishing and exhibition industry more than twenty five years ago when he helped launch Trinity Publishing, which together with Angex (Associated Newspaper Group Exhibitions), formed the nucleus of what is known today as dmg world media, one of the largest producers of trade and consumer exhibitions in the world. In 1997, Mike was appointed Chief Executive Officer of dmg world media and has since been responsible for leading the growth of the company from a UK publishing and exhibition company to the worldwide business it is today. Mike brings a customer-centric focus and clear strategic thinking to dmg world media, based upon his 27 years of experience in exhibition management and publishing. Mike started his career in advertising and exhibition space sales and went on to be involved in the launch of many magazines and exhibitions. He says he still relishes the opportunity to get his hands dirty on the show floor--on the rare occasion that he is allowed to interfere! In order to continue the company’s growth and development, Mike recently moved from the UK to the United States and now resides in Marin County just north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Kay and three children. He is a board member of the Kentfield School Foundation. Mike also feels strongly about helping families that are less fortunate by locally supporting Adopt a Family and Sunnyhill’s children’s charity. Before leaving the UK, Mike was a council member of the Association of Exhibition Organisers (AEO) and has recently accepted a position on the board of Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) in the United States. When he is not coaching one of his children’s soccer teams, Mike likes to mountain bike, sail and kayak and during the winter months he enjoys skiing with his family. When asked what Mike misses most about the UK, he answered “curry, beer and rugby, but not necessarily in that order.” |
