Business Journals Inc Acquires Key Assets of West Coast Exclusive Trade Show

BJI, publisher of MR magazine, The Magazine of Menswear Retailing and producer of 15 fashion industry trade shows,  has acquired certain assets of the West Coast Exclusive (WCE), a high-end men’s show that runs bi-annually in Las Vegas. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

For the last five years, WCE has built a solid reputation in the better men’s community as it has exclusively focused on the buyers and sellers of fine tailored and contemporary clothing. The last run of The Exclusive will be in August 2007.

In February 2008, to take the business to the next level, BJI will launch a new menswear show, MRket.  Paired with MR Magazine, MRket will build upon the best elements of The Exclusive. However, MRket will also provide significantly upgraded and expanded services to the better men’s luxury, traditional and contemporary market.

MRket will debut in the Venetian Ballroom in the Venetian Hotel and it will run concurrently with AccessoriesTheShow Las Vegas and Moda Las Vegas. Together these three shows will create a compelling draw for the better retailing community and they will offer one-stop shopping for the best of the upscale men’s women’s and accessories’ markets.

Lizette Chin, former Show Manager of The Collective in New York and current Advertising Director of MR magazine, has been named to the additional post of Show Director of MRket. Lizette has more than 15 years of successful show management experience in the better men’s market. Larry Hymes, also a veteran of the high-end men’s market and co-founder of The Exclusive will be Director of Sales for MRket.

With the addition of MRket, BJI will produce 17 fashion industry trade shows in 2008. Split between New York and Las Vegas, BJI shows include AccessoriesTheShow, AccessoriesTheShow Las Vegas, Moda Manhattan, Moda Las Vegas, MRket and FAME. BJI’s fashion industry trade publications include ACCESSORIES and MR. BJI also publishes 58 custom publications per year in the upscale menswear and fine jewelry markets.
