Job Title: Director, Exhibitions & Conferences
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary liaison with senior management team and show management company on SHOT Show® operations, logistics and marketing; and plans NSSF participation in major conferences, expos, shows, summits and meetings.
Reports to Senior Vice President. FLSA Code: Exempt. Supervises 0-2.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- NSSF liaison with SHOT Show® management company.
- Manage on-site operations and logistics.
- Work closely with senior management team in preparing and administering budgets.
- Management of event profit and loss.
- Provide regular updates on progress of show operations and income/expenses.
- Create and submit monthly forecasts of both revenue and expenses for all events.
- Plan conferences, educational seminars, industry summit and meetings with appropriate NSSF staff to ensure successful events for all stakeholders including annual Board of Governor’s meeting.
- Work closely with Director of Marketing and Senior Vice President on SHOT Show® sponsorship opportunities and execution of marketing campaigns.
- Work closely with communications staff on promotional themes and messages for NSSF sponsored shows, exhibits and conferences.
- Attend site selection meetings and evaluate venues on basis of suitability and cost.
- Create overall event strategy for the conferences.
- Assist the conference team with the structure and content of the programs.
Ability to travel is necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least five years experience in trade show management and conference planning.
- Excellent communications skills and attention to details.
- Certified Exhibition Manager (CEM) and/or Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred.
- Demonstrated fiscal management, financial management, P&L skills.
- Enjoys working with teams in a collaborative environment.
- Experience in the firearms, hunting and shooting or outdoor sports industry preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Job Title: Tradeshow & Conference Operations Manager
Location: Falls Church, VA and Chatsworth, CA
1105 Media is looking for an experienced tradeshow/conference manager to successfully manage event logistics associated with 1105 Media’s portfolio of events, conferences and tradeshows. Responsibilities will include creation and execution of logistics and operations budgets, venue inspections and selection, facility agreements, room sets, BEO’s, hiring and management of vendor partners such as: audio/visual, catering, décor and signage, registration, and housing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sponsorship fulfillment events and tradeshows;
- Requests for proposals (“RFP’s”) from operations and logistics vendors;
- Vendor and facility/site research;
- Operations binders, including compiling historical data;
- Vendor invoice reconciliation and level-1 approval;
- On-site registration at events, including registering attendees and supervising registration vendor, staff and equipment;
- Outbound and return show management freight shipping;
- Maintain inventory of company-owned meeting supplies;
- On-site show office for larger events and tradeshows, including supervision of temporary staff;
- Dissemination of logistical information to business unit staff responsible for exhibitor, sponsor and attendee inquiries;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Five years experience working in an event planning position (B2B events, conferences or tradeshows)
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to successfully coordinate several events and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and superior customer service skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast paced environment.
- Availability to work extended hours as necessary.
- Ability to travel 50 days per year; including out-of-town and overnight travel.
- Completion of, or hours toward, status of Certified Meeting Planner (“CMP”).
Proficient with:
MS Office software package, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook applications.
Knowledge of:
Expocad suite of trade show and conference software applications;
Industry’s best attendee registration and show management systems, such as those offered from a2z, ARI, Inc., CompuSystems and similar companies.
Undergraduate college degree.

Job Title: Conference Program & Marketing Manager
Location: Las Vegas, NV
1105 Media, a leading media organization, seeks an experienced conference/course program manager with attendee marketing skills to join our team in Las Vegas.
The person in this position will organize and support all course and conference components of Recharger Magazine events (www.rechargermag.com). Primary responsibilities are for Recharger World Expo in Las Vegas as well as other executive level conferences in China, India, and other locations. Position requires experience in and knowledge of course management, presenter management, scheduling of courses and speakers, preparation of all collateral materials, and ability to create and develop marketing campaigns and materials to drive paid registration to these events. The successful candidate must not only be able to create the program but also be instrumental in the marketing and selling of it to attendees.
Requires 3 - 5 years experience in a similar role for a conference producer. Top-notch communication skills are essential for this position, as is the ability to work with all levels both inside and outside the company. The ideal candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines and maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); additional knowledge of or experience with conference registration systems is helpful. Position requires minimal travel (less than 10% of time).
