SISO Announces Board of Directors

Officers help provide networking and education resources for senior event executives

Chicago Ridge, IL [August 6, 2007] – The Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO), an association dedicated to meeting the needs of for-profit show producers, today announced its 2007-2008 board of directors. The board meets three times a year, working to offer its members a great number of service and benefits. The SISO atmosphere is unique – and highly conducive to sharing ideas and experiences that help member businesses grow.

“SISO’s mission can best be described primarily as a dynamic networking and education resource for senior event executives and, secondarily, as a strong influencer of major programs and policies that impact our business,” says Carl Pugh, chairman of the board. He joined SISO in 1995 and has been a member of the board for the past ten years.  He helps to chart SISO’s course and work with the board and SISO headquarters to make sure they are serving its members in the best way possible.

The new officers are:

  • Chairman Carl Pugh, Radius Events
  • Vice Chair Britton Jones, Business Journals
  • Treasurer Nancy Hasselback, Diversified Business Communications
  • Secretary Sean Guerre, The TradeFair Group/Access Intelligence
  • Immediate Past Chair Don Pazour, Access Intelligence

New Board members are Kerry Gumas, Questex; Charles McCurdy, Apprise Media; and Neil Vitale, 1105 Media Group.

Renominated for a second term is Darrell Denny, Penton Media.

These members joined the remaining board - Matthew Cohn, The ASI Show!; Mike Cooke of DMG World Media; Greg Farrar, Neilsen; John Gallagher, E. J. Krause; Joe Loggia of Advanstar; Phil McKay, PPM Media; Cherif Moujabber, Creative Expos; and Nancy Walsh. Reed Exhibitions.

Retiring from the board are Jim Forlenza, NXTComm; Denyse Selesnick, International TradeInformation; and Galen Poss, Hanley Wood Exhibitions.  (They have served their terms and were uneligible to be renominated.)
