2009 CEO Summit Activities

Don’t worry about your traveling companions. While you are engaged in the conference, your guests will have multiple entertainment options to keep them from strumming their fingers in the hotel room. They’ll sample the local flavor with a day trip to two renowned wineries where they will partake in fine wine tastings, dine at upscale restaurants and enjoy awe inspiring panoramic vineyard views. They’ll also experience the natural wonder of the award-winning Carlsbad Flower Fields, an explosion of color on 50 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Carlsbad Flower Fields Tour
Take yourself out of the ordinary and spend a few hours in one of nature's wonders - the Fields of Dreams, our Fields of Color. With 50 acres of extraordinary color in bloom on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, The Carlsbad Flower Fields is famous throughout the country, with a special nursery, garden and gift shop by Armstrong Garden Centers.

During your time at The Flower Fields, you will embark on a special guided tour. You'll visit the Miniature Rose Garden, which received the American Rose Society's highest award for miniature roses, The Award of Excellence. In addition, your tour will take you through the Walk of Fame-the only display of each of the more than 170 All-American Rose selection winners since 1940. The Flower Fields® is one of 130 AARS-accredited public rose gardens nationwide that tests and displays more than 50 different varieties of roses.

Temecula Valley Winery Tour
Located in southwestern Riverside County, Temecula is California's only prominent American viticulture area south of Los Angeles. For the adventurous wine lover, it is an ideal destination for a short day trip from San Diego.

Temecula's fine wines taste especially good when sampled at the winery. Likewise, the area's premiere wineries have been selected for the SISO CEO Summit Guest Program:

The Méthode Champenoise process is used because it has proven to be the best for producing fine quality sparkling wine/champagne.

From the beginning, Thornton Winery has utilized skills perfected in blending Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine/champagne and then applied them to the new premium varietal still wines. The result: more awards and medals. Over the years, some very unique premium varietal wines have been added to the product line. These varietals emulate classic wine styles of the Mediterranean and Rhône regions. Thornton Winery favors producing wine that is exciting for its freshness and bursting with flavor.
